Hi Friends,
Thanksgiving was
celebrated here in the United States yesterday, and for those who observe it, I hope the day was a good one. Yesterday’s article looks at the history behind the holiday, tracing its origins and how its traditions have developed over time. It is a good read for anyone spending the long weekend learning about family stories and
remembering the generations that came before us.
Earlier in the week, I posted a helpful reminder about one of the easiest ways to make progress in your research. MyHeritage rolled out their lowest DNA kit price I have seen, and I wrote a short guide about how DNA testing has changed over the years and why this sale is worth taking advantage of while it lasts. If you have been thinking about using DNA in your research, this is a rare chance to get started for very little cost.
This week’s free
genealogy lookups were published on Monday, and you can still send in your names for those. They cover a useful mix of records, and they are always free to use. The new book giveaway for Tracing Your Scottish Ancestry by Katherine B. Corey is also underway and will be ending soon. If you have Scottish roots, make sure your entry is in before the deadline (November 29).
And if you enjoy the Journeys of Our Ancestors series, the recent entries on France and Scotland are now live on the site. These stories continue to explore the places and people who shaped so many of our family lines.
More updates are coming next week.
Until then, I hope you enjoy the weekend and keep making steady progress in your research.
Happy Searching!

P.S. There are plenty of ways to stay connected with Ancestral Findings. You can listen to the podcast (also available on YouTube) or lend your support through the site. Every visit, share, and listen helps keep the lights on and the stories coming.
