Hi Friends,
Â
When October rolls around, I always think of the crisp days I used to spend walking through cemeteries, taking notes from headstones, and snapping photos for later research. There’s something about this season that feels made for genealogy. The air is cooler, the leaves are turning, and it just seems right to spend some quiet time digging into the past.
Â
This week, I found myself revisiting some passenger lists and land records we’ve been
working on. I’m always struck by how much of a story is hidden in those old documents. Just seeing the names, the places they left, and the spots where they settled tells you so much about what life was like for our ancestors.
Â
That’s also why I put together this month’s featured article on October genealogy projects you can start right now. If you’re looking for fresh ways to keep moving your research forward, you’ll find practical ideas there.
Â
And since it’s Friday, I’ve also gathered up what’s new at Ancestral Findings. This
week, you’ll find our regular Free Genealogy Lookups and the final part of the Genealogy MythBusters series, which was a lot of fun to put together. If you missed any, now’s a good time to catch up. So if you’ve got some time set aside for research this weekend, there’s plenty here to keep you inspired.
Â
Happy Searching!
