It’s been a busy week with
preparations, appointments, and reflections, but I’m so glad to connect with you here. Health updates have become a tradition in this newsletter, so I’ll start there. Today was a full day of doctor’s visits as I prepare for surgery next week. It’s been a year since my last cystoscopy, which thankfully showed no signs of cancer in my bladder. I’m praying and hoping for the same good news this time—a healthy bladder and a clear path forward. Your thoughts and prayers will mean the world to me as I
go through this process.

Now, let’s talk photography and what’s in store for this issue!
Â
One featured article dives into a topic
close to my heart—nostalgia and lessons from childhood adventures. Growing up in Hinton, West Virginia, was an experience filled with charm, simplicity, and unforgettable moments. I still remember my dad’s whistle calling me home when the
day was over. That sound carried through the whole town, a unique melody of love and care. I’ll share more about how those memories shaped me as a person and photographer, teaching me to find beauty in the every day and cherish life’s quiet details.
Â
Another topic we’re exploring is what to do when your creative flow comes to a standstill. It’s a question I’ve wrestled with myself: should you force creativity or let it rest and return naturally? I’ll share some insights, and hopefully, they’ll help you find your rhythm when inspiration feels out of reach.
Â
We’re also discussing fragmented audiences. It’s easy to paint your audience in broad
strokes, but understanding their unique differences can make all the difference in connecting meaningfully. I’ll also touch on the balance between catering to your audience and staying true to your creative vision—a meaningful conversation for any artist.
Â
On a lighter note, I’ve got two songs from Music From the Doctor’s Office to share. I love how music can set the tone for creative projects, and these tracks are ones I hope you’ll enjoy.
Â
Lastly, don’t forget about our free postcard giveaway! If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to do so—you’re automatically entered just by subscribing to this newsletter. And coming
later this month, I’m kicking off a free photography book giveaway! I’ve gathered quite a collection of books over the years, and it’s time to share the joy with fellow photography lovers. Tell your friends, too—it’s the perfect way to expand our community.
Â
Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether
you’re here for the tips, stories, giveaways, or simply the shared love of photography, your presence means so much to me.
Â
Here’s to inspiration, creativity, and the beauty of capturing life one frame at a time.
Â
Happy shooting!
